This Friday, September 20th, marks the kick-off of the global Climate Strike Week. Climate Change has already started to impact our island home and addressing climate change been a priority for the Democratic Party of Hawaii. There are several events happening in our state during this week.

KONA: 3:00-6:00 PM Solidarity Signwaving Queen Ka'ahumanu Hwy (South of Henry)

WAIMEA: 4:00 PM-6:00 PM Signwaving at Church Row

Saturday Sept 21

HONOKAA: Peace Day Parade Climate Contingent 10AM-12N Wear Green and bring fossil free transport (bikes, skateboards etc)

Sunday Sept 22

HONOKAA: Hamakua Harvest 5yr Celebration 9-2pm Special Climate Emergency/Green New Deal Talk Story at 1pm

Hawaii Island Civic Engagement Workshop
This workshop will feature presenters from across the state and is designed to help inspire and train the next generation of leaders in our community. We will be providing an inside look into how our government works and teaching the skills needed to help participants advocate for the issues they care about, amplify their message and take action to better our community.

At this gathering we will discuss the most pressing issues facing our nation and upon which to choose candidates to support; the US Senate and house races we can help with; local offices that will be up for grabs in 2020; and we encourage updates from YOU on such subjects as climate change, including climate migrants, guns and the NRA, racism and sexism, voter suppression, population control, getting money out of politics, etc.
