Hawaii's First Traditional Tattoo Festival to held in Kohala on the Big Island Oct. 25-28.

Celebrate the ritualistic and ceremonial practice of traditional tattooing with master indigenous tattoo artists from Pacific and Arctic Cultures, including Hawaii’s own Keone Nunes and renowned tattoo anthropologist Lars Krutak.

This four-day event includes a grand opening celebration, an all-day cultural fair, live demos, workshops, a fireside 'awa ritual, music, food and traditional tattoo film screenings.

Sponsored by Kohala Institute, and supported by grants from Hawaii Tourism Authority Community Enrichment Program and Hawai’i Council for the Humanities, the Traditional Tattoo Festival is a celebration of indigenous arts, vision and cultural resilience.
